About BlaEx

Systems Intelligence Built Inside Institutions

Monique L. Thompson has spent more than 36 years leading inside complex organizations, not observing them from a distance. She has designed systems, built teams, launched enterprise products and programs, negotiated major commercial agreements, led international expansion, guided transformation, and advised senior leaders across environments where the cost of misalignment is measured in performance, market position, institutional trust, and human consequence.

Operational, Not Theoretical

Her authority is operational, not theoretical. It was developed across technical operations, enterprise technology, commercial growth, organizational transformation, decision systems, healthcare ethics, federal advisory service, and nonprofit infrastructure.

That cross-sector record enables her to recognize patterns that may appear differently across industries but share the same underlying institutional dynamics.

A Cross-Sector Operating Record

Amazon: Executive Leadership and New Capability Creation

At Amazon, Thompson served as Chief of Staff for Alexa Product, Sales and Marketing, operating across product, sales, global operations, organizational transformation, and executive decision systems.

Before becoming Chief of Staff, she created and led Alexa + Prime Marketing. She built the team and program responsible for strengthening the commercial relationship between Alexa devices and Amazon Prime, increasing Alexa device sales among Prime members and expanding Prime membership among Alexa customers.

Thompson's team invented and implemented the ability for customers to purchase Prime membership by voice through Alexa-enabled devices. The organization also created and launched Amazon's first Hispanic Heritage Month sales campaign for Alexa devices and developed marketing that increased awareness that customers could select Spanish as their primary Alexa language.

F5 Networks: Digital Transformation and International Operations

At F5 Networks, Thompson created and led Digital Transformation initiatives, building the frameworks and operating models that enabled the organization to adapt to emerging technologies and evolving market demands. This experience is directly relevant to today's AI-driven transformation, where leaders must navigate rapid change, integrate new capabilities, and align technology with strategic outcomes.

She created and implemented a new Center of Excellence in Hyderabad, India, achieving 220 percent employee growth in 13 months. The operating model later informed F5's expansion into Guadalajara, Mexico.

Thompson designed cross-functional process improvements that increased organizational productivity by 39 percent and developed a Digital Transformation Communication Strategy that increased employee awareness and adoption by 85 percent.

Virtuoso and HTC: Commercial Growth and Strategic Partnerships

At Virtuoso, Thompson created and led the proof-of-concept initiative and negotiations that secured a first-of-its-kind MasterCard World Elite alliance, producing a 34 percent revenue increase.

At HTC, she negotiated and closed more than 500 million dollars in contracts for virtual-reality and music experiences, operating at the intersection of global partnerships, business development, commercial strategy, enterprise risk, and execution.

T-Mobile: Enterprise Change and Product Operations

At T-Mobile, Thompson designed and implemented an organizational change strategy for a 1,200-person Marketing and Product Management organization. The work increased organizational effectiveness by 23 percent and reduced customer friction associated with new product introduction by 17 percent.

Her role operated at the intersection of marketing, product management, organizational change, operational effectiveness, and customer experience. She equipped leaders and teams to strengthen how new products moved through the organization and into the market, improving both internal execution and the customer experience.

Thompson's performance was recognized with T-Mobile's PEAK Achiever Award, a distinction earned by fewer than two percent of employees.

Microsoft: Technical and Operational Foundation

Thompson's enterprise technology foundation includes early roles at Microsoft as a Lead Escalation Engineer and Senior Technical Trainer. She led the launch of the MSN Service Operations Center, operating at the intersection of technical systems, service readiness, customer support, and large-scale technology operations.

That experience established an early throughline in her career: translating complex technology into operational capability, equipping teams to perform inside rapidly evolving environments, and building the systems required to support products and customers at scale.

Institutional and Public-Service Leadership

Thompson's institutional experience extends beyond corporate environments.

Federal advisory work through the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality focused on patient and family engagement and national healthcare quality.

She also served on the UW Medicine Ethics Committee as its sole non-clinician appointee, bringing a patient, family, governance, and organizational perspective into complex healthcare deliberations.

Her nonprofit leadership includes building human-resource, policy, compliance, and governance infrastructure for a staffed residential organization serving displaced foster youth.

Executive Advisor, Coach, Author, and Institutional Strategist

In addition to founding BlaEx and developing Executive Risk Intelligence, Thompson is a certified executive, leadership, professional, and life coach and a certified Myers-Briggs practitioner.

She has spent more than 15 years advising and coaching senior leaders, entrepreneurs, and high-performing professionals. Her work equips leaders to understand the systems surrounding their decisions, the gaps between intent and institutional impact, and the conditions required to lead with sustained clarity and authority.

Thompson is also a four-time bestselling author whose work spans institutional navigation, professional advancement, relationships, faith, loss, resilience, and human systems. Her broader body of work is available at moniquelthompson.com.

The Throughline

Across every chapter of Thompson's career, the work has been consistent: seeing patterns early, translating complexity into clarity, and building systems capable of producing stronger outcomes.

Executive Risk Intelligence is not derived from one employer, one role, or one industry. It is the synthesis of 36 years spent shaping institutions where power, decision-making, execution, and human consequence intersect.

BlaEx brings that accumulated operating experience to boards and executive teams seeking greater visibility into the conditions shaping their organizations.
